pushing my creative comfort zone—my photoshoot with the band brightsmith

In August 2025, a great local cover band called Brightsmith here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, reached out to me for help with group photos for their promotional materials after they got a new bass player. This one was really fun and a good challenge! After brainstorming poses and compositions, I scouted locations around downtown, as we envisioned an urban look to the photos, and we move methodically from one location to the next chasing good light on a Friday afternoon. Photographing groups of people is always a fun challenge, both compositionally and logistically (mostly getting everyone in focus without at least one person blinking), and it’s great practice to get outside your comfort zone and push yourself creatively. We were all happy with how the photos turned out, especially given that we only had about an hour to finish the shoot, just before really good light started to come out. Here are some sample photos from our session.

If you’re looking for help with a photography project or need photos of your band, reach out to me at ben@bensnaps-photo.com! I’m available across New Mexico, the Southwest, and beyond, and I’d love to work with you!
