an editorial portrait photoshoot at the albuquerque botanic gardens

For a few months, I had a vision in my head of an editorial style portrait session highlighting Albuquerque, New Mexico’s, beautiful botanic gardens, filled with desert flowers and dusty-green cacti. With the help of the extremely talented Shaelyn Guzman, we far exceeded my vision for the shoot, capturing some of my favorite images of my photo career to date in early August 2025. Here are just a few sample images from our shoot. It was quite hot out, and the midday light was harsh, but we found pockets of soft light throughout the gardens and ended up relying solely on natural light (although I still brought my off-camera flash setup just in case). Very happy with results, especially given the conditions!
